Santosh Anand belongs to Sikandrabad town District Bulandshahr started his career in 1970 through the film Purab Aur Paschim. This film’s Soundtrack was composed by Kalyanji Anandji. He wrote his favorite millennium song “Ek Pyaar Ka Naghma Hain” in 1972 film Shor. It was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh. The film, Roti Kapda Aur Makan its music was tuned by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The songs like “Mehngai Mar Gayi”, “Aur Nahin Bas Aur Nahin” and especially “Main Na Bhoolunga”, sung by Mukesh. Santosh obtained his first filmfare award for that film.1981 film Kranti. The film was the highest-grossing film of that year. The same year, he penned songs such as “Tera Saath Hain Toh” and “Megha Re Megha Re” in the film Pyaasa Sawan. The next year, he penned the song “Mohabbat Hain Kya Cheez” again under Laxmikant Pyarelal in the film Prem Rog. He was awarded his second and last filmfare award as the best lyricist for the film.[1] He has penned total 109 songs in 26 films.He has received Yash Bharti in 2016.He has been awarded for the best lyrists by Filmfare award for Film- Roti Kapada Aur Makaan Song name- Main Na Bhoolunga & Film- Prem Rog Song name- Muhabbat Hai Kya Chij in 1974 & 1983 respectively.
